Guest speakers

I like to use guest speaker from the field in which the student will be going into after they finish their degree, It helps engage them and helps them to understand the diversity in the health care field..

Hi Francine:
Guest speakers are a great way of allowing the student a new perspective from someone in the world, possibly working in an area the student will be working in.

Also, questions can be formed, which facilitates the learning process.

Hi Angelia:
Anyone who has expertise in the topic you're teaching, and is willing to share some of their time and experience can make a good speaker. Its true some are more dynamic than others, or perhaps more interesting, but to students who have limited access to information apart from the classroom, these speakers add a dimension of instruction that's hard to match.

Regards, Barry

Hi Francine:
Guest speaker can provide tremendous motivation and inspiration to students who may only have have vague or incomplete ideas about the profession they've chosen. It's also very cool when the guest will validate facts or information you've stressed in your course. That adds to trust and respect.

Using Guest speaker lets the students hear and see that there are successful people that give back to thier commuities by going back to the schools that they attended and tell thier stories of SUCCESS.And it makes the students feel that they too can succeed.

I like to use guest speakers from the field because it helps to encourage students that the information they are learning is current in the field. I like to use leaders for leadership and they can share their experiences in the field of different leader styles and give feedback about professionalism in the community.

They like to hear things about thier field ...not from someone that is payed to ....From someone that is actually out there hands on.

Hi Shisha:
A guest speaker can answer questions, share information, and give insights with slightly different emphasis than the teacher has. It's a different "voice", so the information will likely be more interesting and the students more attentive.

Validating what the teacher has said sometimes occurs. This helps build trust and respect for the regular instructor.
