Guest speakers
I have had such a positive experience, how about you?
Maria Estela,
It is true that an individual such as you describe would be wonderful. Often, local folks bring just as valuable information to students, pertinent facts or local job information that makes for a much more interesting presentation.

I think that a guest speaker will bring life to the class and make the students engaged in a lively discussion. More so if the speaker is the source of the knoweledge that she represents like the author of the book or the founder of a theory or philosophy. That would be an exciting experience for the class.
Hi Robbie:
Guest speakers are a fantastic way to keep the student interested in the topic - they get to hear information from another perspective.
This can be especially important if the speaker is working in the same environment as the student will.

Hi Shane,
Our positive experiences are a collective thing! We learn from each other everyday.
In a way, most would probably agree that all of our experiences are a learning experience and are positive in that respect.

Barry
Hi Donald:
"New life" is often an outcome when the guest is able to inspire and motivate. They do this by touching on areas of interest to the student. And providing hope for a successful potential career can be a very strong inner motivation that'll get students working harder in class afterwards, too.
Regards, Barry
I work in the motorcycle industy and had a guest speaker from Harley Davidson in my course today. The class did not seem engauged until he spoke of how he got to the position he holds today which is in training and development. He had started in the same spot they are in now "Student" at MMI, they started to engauge him about the motorcycle industry and where it's at today. This brought new life to my course and was one of the best days that i've had in a long time. I think having someone working in the industry speak in your classroom is great for the student and gives them some direction.
I had a guest speaker that was a doctor, and he really help the students see the reality of the importants in what they were learning, and how important they were to the field
