Preparing for the Classroom
This will be beneficial since this is my 1st time in education
Hi Sherri:
Many students can usually tell when an instructor is unprepared for class. For those times, one strategy to think about is to have a back-up plan that can be used to help the instructor finish class.

Hi Cynthia:
When an instructor comes across disorganized, it may send the message to the student "I don't care enough about your learning to be prepared for you".

Hi Sor:
When an instructor is disorganized, there may be a loss of credibility because of the message it sends the student - something along the lines of "I don't care enough about your learning to be prepared for you".

When I first started teaching I think that I over prepared and was spending way too much time getting ready for class. I have been able to find a balance by simply reviewing my powerpoint slides and text and going over the problems in class and discussions as students see it for the first time. This allows me to process the information with them and spend time focusing on my lecture.
Preparing for the class is very important to me. I make sure that I am very familiar with the material that will be covered. During my preparation for the class, I go over the subject matter that I will be covering, the visual aids, such as power point slides that I will be using and the questions or problems that I will be asking the class to solve during the class.
Whether it be your first time in the education filed in front of a class,or your 100th time, preparation is a very important part of teaching. You are always preparing and learning new ways of teaching the materials that may become humdrum to you. Just remember that your last class is as important as your first class and being prepared with new materials will not only keep your students interested and enthusiastic, but it will keep you interested and enthusiastic.
I am very surprised that there are no responses to this topic. Preparation is the most important task an educator can perform. Lack of preparation robs students and teachers a like of valuable class time and confuses the students. Organization sends students the message that their instructor cares enough to plan to provide the best quality instruction and engage them rather than bore them with hours of lecture.
