Field Trips

I believe that field trips play an important role in giving a student a first hand look at how they apply what they learn in the real work setting. It also lets them see things in action and helps motivate them to do well and be successful.

Hi Cindy:

Field trips and guest speakers are a great way to renew interest in the material you’ve been discussing in class. It gives the student’s a chance to speak with people (possibly in the field they are training for), and gain a different and new perspective about the topics at hand.

Also, they might get the chance to ask some questions about the topics you’ve discussed and get a better understanding overall.

Hi Sari:
Field trips are wonderful. Sometimes difficult to schedule, good ones have the ability to inspire and motivate, and students may try harder to do well in class as a result of the experience.

I agree that field trips can help with boredom. I typically teach students during their last term. Field trips help to refocus students when all they can think about is being done with school.

Hi Gavin:
Yeah, By allowing some preparation and giving some notice about where the studemnts are at in their lesson, a speaker can better "inhance the learning" experience.

I like this as well because then the guest speaker doesn't have to come in cold.

I love the idea of sending out class information a couple weeks ahead of time to the speaker so they have a better understanding of your class, and also a committment to coming to speak.

Field trips are a great way to show students what its really like in the real world. They also help with bordem.
