Disorganization
Instructors who are disorganized lead the students to believe that said instructors do not know anything about the subject matter.
Sherri,
Yeah, disorganization can be a big time waster. It can interfere with competently led discussion and lesson deliveries as well. Student expect and deserve their instructors to be well prepared and organized for every class.

Disorganization not only makes the student think “I’m not concerned enough about your learning to be organized for youâ€. It can cause mistakes to be made, taking up valuable time to correct once discovered.
Hi Tom:
The problem with consistent disorganization from an instructor is the potential loss of credibility with the students, and the message it may send, which is “I’m not concerned enough about your learning to be organized for youâ€.

But in your case, if you are conscious of this, and are doing your best to be organized, I'd be surprised this would not be completely reflected on your evaluations.

More importantly than the students thinking I do not know anything about what I'm teaching but it will make the students believe I do not care about their success and their learning! Organization shows commitment to the students and demonstrates how I take pride in my profession. Where I instruct, professionality is taught just like subject matter. I demonstrate subject matter and technical skills, I need to also demonstrate professionality and organization is a huge part of that professionality.
Do you ever have students within the same class though that view the organization of the teacher through different sets of standards? Quite often on evaluations, I will have comments from the same class that say how organized I am and how disorganized I am. I'm the same person in the same class with both students, so I think much of it has to do their own view and personality.
