the time crunching instructor

Students appreaciate when the instructor is on time

I start class on time. If there are non course related announcements/upcoming college events, I make those announcements a few minutes before the class start time. I notice that by week three students who come a few minutes late the first few weeks seem to try harder to get to class on time. They realize that I am not going to wait on them nor will I recover a topic that they missed because they were late. The result is that usually by week four everyone in class and ready to go on time. I also let my students know day one that I have a certain amount of material to cover and if we start on time we will end on time.

Where I teach being on time is very important for the students. They are also judged on being professional in their apperance and actions. Therefore it is equally important that I lead by example and be on time, be prepared and be professional in all ways.

I agree it sets a good example when you are on time, organized and ready to teach!!
