Even though we have a mock pharmacy in place, and the students role play in each aspect of pharmacy practices, when I took them to a working hospital pharmacy, they got so excited. When we were in the store room and the pharmacist was explaining the reasons they put things were they are, students recogonized different drugs, knew the brand and generic names for most of them. They knew what the thechnicians were actually doing. They trully got excited and asked tons of great questions. The pharmacist was impressed at how much they knew and the questions they asked. Overall, the experience got them fired up and the rest of the term was exciting for both them and myself.
