Be prepare for class, or feel the heat
Being prepare for what you do is very important. That translate to knowning how long is the class and what you have to do in order to deliver the most information in a manner that student lear the most. Being prepare mean being effisient.
Hi Lorraine:
I agree, and I think an underprepared teacher risks losing respect from the students. In the worst case, this can diminish course performance, both becasue of the respect issue, and by being underprepared, students missing out some essential or needed information.

Being prepared takes preparation and planning. the adult learner is more astute to when an instructor is not prepared. Not being prepared does not help build the confidence of the students in the instructor.
Hi James:
Prepartion takes a degree of organization, effort, and time. Students do see that, or the absence of it and make conclusions (fair and unfair) about the teachers rediness and even knowledge about the subject. Ick!

I like to be prepared. If the students see that I am prepared it sets the bar for them.
Hi Anthony:
Preparation and organization are essential to assuring the best student outcomes. As you say, emphasizing what is most important is valuable (as long it it appropriate to the course objectives and learning outcomes).
