preparing yourself for classroom

a instructor should always b perpard for class it shows your students that you are ready, to meet the challenge.

Christopher,
These are all necessary and valuable examples of what it takes for an instructor "to get prepared". As much effort as the student has to do to master the material we provide, that same amount of preparation by the instructor is needed, at least at the outset of the course.

In a fast-paced career college situation, it may be tempting to fall back on strictly 'canned' lessons from previous instructors or terms. While this might make the instructor appear more organized, students suffer from a lack of tailored content and methodology.

Adequate preparation for a class will likely take more time than teaching it! Tailoring Publisher PowerPoints, inviting guest speakers, coming up with feresh and inventive classroom activities, reading through the students' textbook so you can refocus particular key points to align with the syllabus, and keeping in touch with students who miss a class and providing follow-up all take a large set or resources and time.

The investment will pay off heartily in increased student participation, learning, retention as well as enjoyment for the instructor for the class time.

Freddie,
Good preparation leads to good classes, student learning, and positive outcomes.
