Mise en Place both physical and mental
In the culinary school I work we teach classical french techinques and the term mise en place is very important to us.It translates into everything has its place. We use it gathering ingredients for the execution of a recipe and mentally in a visulization process that prepares us to get ready for the execution of the recipe, a review plan if you wish. That is our basic organization model.

Michael,
Boy, a kitchen would seem to absolutely require special attention to organization. An organizzed mindset makes for an organized life, that's for sure.

I also teach in a culinary school and I like the "mise en place" analogy a lot. The concept has so many applications, both for homework, family life, employment, spiritual life, emotional readiness, etc. Great tip! I will encorporate that in my classroom.
Robert,
I can see the potential for many similarities, both in school, and in life. Students who embrace this sentiment will probably prepare well, succeed, and do well in all their endeavors.
