Goal of Educating Students
Productivity is rewarding.
I heard a quote, and since then I have used it as the basis for teaching:
The goal of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one.

The goal of educating students is so rewarding when the student reach their desired goal.
Hi Tracy:
Your focus on results for students is inspiring.
For me part of the goal is to be able to take what I've lerned over many years and through the instructioal process, transfer as much of that as I can in the allotted time to my students.
Of course that can't be done fully in te little time I have with them, but that makes every moment valuable ad I don't want wased time in my classes on non-useful activities.
Regards, Barry
Hi Marisa:
Great response from your past students. I'm sure that's very enriching for you.
For me, one aspect of the goal is to be able to give as much of what I've learned over many years and transfer that to students. My mistakes, my experiences, my knowledge - all these culminate in a rich full bouquet of teaching moments that provide significant and meaningful instruction to students.
These memorable lessons can be taken to the workplace and applied. Hopefully, they will take my instruction and go farther than I was in my day.
Regards, Barry
It's fascinating to see students at the beginning of a course, with their apprehensions, doubts, and reservations become actively involved in their learning process and become fully productive in achieving their short term goal. The reward is great, so much so that it shows on their faces and in their demeanor. Wondersful to say the least.
My students come back to visit me frequently and I love hearing their success stories. There is nothing quite like the validation of a student who has just passed their National Certification, or gotten employed at the job of their dreams to reaffirm I am in the right field!
Hi Gary:
Nice sentiment.
I think the goal is transfering our knowledge gained through years of education, training, work experience, and life experiences to students for the purpose of application in a career sense.
We can lay the foundation, and if we're successful, the student will take that knowledge even farther and do more than we were able in our time. Everyone who is successful stands on the shoulders of someone who came before him.
Regards, Barry
Hi Nicole:
Yeah, that's kind of a reflection of good relating.
I think the goal involves giving all we can based on our educaion, training , experience, mistakes, and familaiarity with the profession and subject matter. Being able to share stories or siuations that the student will remember when they go to thework setting is really invaluable.

What's even better is when they want you again as an instructor for another course you are teaching; then I feel like I really have gotten through to them.
Hi Diane:
Many teachers believe that the transfer of knowledge from teacher to student, and asssuring that knowlege is applicable to their career field is one good definition.
Our hope as teachers is that our students will take the foundation we give them, and take it farther - that's how progress and improvement comes about.
Regards, Barry
That IS the goal! BUT when the goal is achieved and the student comes back to you and says thank you, there's nothing better!!!
