It is extremely important to use multiple forms of communication while teaching. CEE states that learning increases drastically when 2 different forms of instruction are used fro the same topic. It more likely to cover each student's learning strenght (i.e. visual, auditory, etc.).

Hi Paul:
That's very true about students losing focus. There is a study that describes adult learners lose focus after approximately 45 minutes. This is considered the best time to change tactics and do something new.

Hi Gina:
Very good - by using a multiple approach to learning, we address every type of learning style.

Hi Robert:
PPT is good, but I aslo think it is relied on too much. I think PPT is best used in conjunction with the whiteboard, discussion, examples, or class exercises. Like you say, variety.

Power point and video and other media, add variety.

Hi Yasir:
I think even visual learners can benefit auditory lessons, and so fortyh with the various combinations. True, if we know a student learns better using one of their prefered senses and can adapt the lesson, that's great. But usually, we're in a classroom full of a "mixed multitude" of learners and learning styles. So by adding lots of variety to our media choices, we're more likely to meet the bulk of the students.

It is important that the instructor is aware of the different types of learners example visual, auditory and tactile so that he or she can diversify his delivery methods.

I have noticed that after 15 or so minutes of lecturing, students tend to lose focus. Using multiple delivery methods, such as visual aids, hand-outs, group activities, and quizzes, will aid is keeping the class focused.
