Student success

In order for a student to be successful you as an instructor must make sure you have equipped the student with the proper tools for success. i feel you should teach the student how to study and develop skills.

Dear Natelle:
This is a great point. Do you have any suggestions on activities that would serve this role?

Regards, Barry

Hi Rita,
We are the subject matter experts and possess the skills, tools, and information to assist student learners to be successful. It's an awesome responsibilty. It's great when students recognize our exemplary efforts to teach and guide them to successful careers.

Right!..the student are depending upon us as instructor to help them to gain the knowledge that they will need to be successful!!=-)

Hi Leuquiten:
You're absolutely correct - study skills are probably one of the most important skills an instructor can impart to a student. This is true for all students, but especially so for students that don't have a strong understanding of what good studying means.

Hi.I agree with you ,we must provide all the tools that they need to success.
Ms Melendrez

I agree. It is important to provide the "proper tools" it can be very difficult to make students learn. This is an aspect that I often struggle with. I try to provide real-world learning experiences and other external resources outside of the text. There are times when no matter how much information you provide, a student will fail to meet the necessary expectations.

What a lot of instructors lack is also teaching students soft skills. Some students have great academics but they do not posess the social skills they need to perform appropriatly in the workplace.

I agree with you, but also think the student must have the desire to succeed if not it really doesent matter how great of instructor you are they are just not going to succeed. Like the saying goes "you can take the horse to the water but you cant force it to drink."
