I have a diverse background and my students response very well when i use my experience to highlight different topic in environmental science and compare with their experience to come up with discussion and answers. I listen to students way of thinking and incorporate to class subject matter, that way they feel involved in class.
I love the quote from the very first page of this module that some students are like dogs (eager to learn) and some are like cats (need more motivation.) I guess the same can be said for instructors. Some of us just love knowing that what we are doing in the classroom today will have an impact on the future, some just want a job where we can have summers off.
I am very organized with lesson plans, and process of delivery. However, I don't like to lecture. I feel that students "check out" when listening to a lecture, especially since all of our student have a laptop/distraction. I feel like I have to constantly engage them by using hands on situations, multimedia presentations, and discussions. This always seems to lead me off topic, though.
In the learning situation that I am in with my students, I have to talk about what task need to be done (small lecture), then demonstration of the task and then the students will return demonstration as a check-off to make sure that the skill is performed properly. My personality needs to be where I can use several of delivery methods to convey the intended message to the students.

For me, it keeps the class moving with a sense of levity and understanding that learning how to write better is fun.
I apply many different parts of my personality to my classroom delivery. I believe that learning is easier when you're laughing and having fun, so I like to include a sense of humor to get my students giggling. To balance that out I am very organized and strict about attendance and tardiness. My students respect my delivery style because they know and can rely on what is expected of them, while at the same time looking forward to class tomorrow because they know it will be fun!
Personality plays a huge role in delivery. If one has an "I don't care" type of personality it will come across and the students won't care either...as a student I enjoyed instructors with a witty personality because it made me eager to know what was next to come out of that person's mouth. It makes class and the information more interesting.
I think personality is huge for choosing the methods with which one communicates best, as well as making extra effort to use methods that the student can understand best, even if they aren't one's favorites. If I'm more bookish and easily provide students written material, then I must also work at my speaking ability especially for the more auditory students.
I believe personality is very important to what I am trying to imaprt to my students. My students need to see and understand that I am willing and able to help them learn the subject to the fullest extent. I am always well-prepared to teach whatever lesson is "on-tap" for the class. I always try to impart my years of experience to my students by using as many real-world examples as I can without overwhelming the students.
I have a person to person or one to one personality. As a result I enjoy the individual teaching and assessment of proficiency skills. When I am lecturing I am also looking for individual reactions. Is each student receptive and on task?
I am more introverted, and move around and employ a lot of exercises, probably just quieter. Works ok.
I reach two separate although related classes with the same students. This section assisted me in seeing that I need to modify my methods in one of the classes in which I'm relying too much on power points. Going forward I'll be adding more self movement coupled with multiple presentation methods
My personality that works well in the course I teach is the ability to talk plainly (sort of street- like ) students are very responsive to the tone.
Your personality will come through when you are delivering your lesson plan. If an instructor attempts to be someone they are not comfortable being it can show through the class. I feel it is important that you utilize the strong points of your personality to help you enhance your lesson plans.
There is a time to be serious during lab and lecture but at time its good to have a sense of humor and be creative in class. Different humors senerios can break up the dry lecture and it gives the student the view that you are still a person away from the instructor role.
The instructor must be upbeat and positive, excited about what they are teaching, smile, use different voice inflections,
How can a student become excited about the subject when the instructor isn't!
I am an extrovert and I am very expressive when I teach. I like to utilize exercises with the students when I teach and I believe that this is a direct result of my personality. Based on this, I find that I move around the room a lot when I teach, I don't use notes unless it is a new topic for me, and ask for a lot of input from the students. I think that most intructors will match their personality with the delivery mechanisms that they feel most comfortable using.
PERSONALITY PLAYS A IMPORTANT ROLE IT IN YOUR STUDENTS LEARNING
I is key to remember that instruction and entertainment have been closely linked in the "Sesame Street" generation. Use your personallity to move learning forward.
