Reading
Is it a good practice for students to read out loud, if the class is 5 or less students?
I sometimes have the students read out loud if we going over certain things pertaining to the rules of the classroom. This gives them a chance to ask question and me as well.
Jona,
This is also just a good way to engage students - in any kind of class.

I teach English Langage Learners - I make them read out loud. I also teach Oral and Written Communication, there are times that having students read out loud engages the whole class. It also keeps them off their phones!
Godwin,
Also, the type of class makes a difference. For instance a language or terminology class may by necessity benefit by out loud reading. Speech and communication courses may also require a similar emphasis.

Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. I suggest each student finds what works for them. While reading out loud may be good for some students, it may a distraction to other students.
Tammy,
I think every activity has the potential to be beneficial. I would ask the question, what is the purpose (whether 5 or 35 students)?
