Lesson Plans

As a relatively new instructor I find it helpful to choose a few different ways to present the same material so as to have the students be exposed to the most important material on more occasions than just during lecture and testing.

Lyndi,

Excellent idea! Informal "experiments" can be used to improve or strengthen the instructor's delivery of a course concept. This can also be used to assess student engagement, in order to promote participation.

I agree with this. In our institute we teach at different times a day and we may be teaching the same subject to two different classes. I like to teach the same material two different ways to see which group may understand it better than another.

I also show them other resources they can use from home.

Deborah,

I agree. Diversifying the presentation methods can go a long way with, enabling students to retain the information. In addition, it makes it more interesting for the instructor, to research different methods for increasing student engagement in the classroom.
