15 YEARS

This lesson gave me confirmation of how well I have been doing as an instructor and also allow me to add some new things to my lesson plans.

There is no such thing as not getting information because we have been teaching for X number of year.

This is my 16th year teaching and I'm still picking up notes and ideas from other instructors rather we are teaching the same subjects or not; I figure out how to make it work in my field.

ROBERT,

This is a great observation. Ironically, there are quite a few similarities in teaching adults vs. children. Many of my methods for student engagement were derived from discussions with early childhood educators, because student engagement will always be a primary componenet of education...regardless of level.

Misty,

Excellent thoughts! As a veteran instructor, I find that learning is infinite, no matter how many times you have taught a particular course. Students will always present interesting opinions and thoughts, regarding the subject-matter, that ultimately make each class unique.

Learning from other fields is a must no matter what subject you are teaching. While I have been teaching adults for several years some of my best ideas have come from a preschool teacher who is in my personal learning network.

This is my first year teaching and it is nice to know that even as we continue to teach we continue to grow in our own education.

I often tell people when they ask how i like teaching "I love it. However if you ever want to feel like you don't know anything, try teaching it. Because it really shows you that you can never know everything about anything."

I love to learn and i love to help others learn.

It makes me very happy to hear a veteran instructor say they are still learning.

May we never stop learning and continue to increase our knowledge and passion for sharing that knowledge with others!

Vanessa,

I agree. Successful instructors constantly find ways to evolve their pedagogical techniques. Significant professional development activities as well as meetings with peer instructors, can assist with enhancing instructional methods.
