Documenting the lesson plan

I find it very useful in documenting the lesson plan for various reasons, some of those being ..the lesson plan keeps me focused to what is being taught for the day (especially as I teach different subject classes on various days)
The lesson plans are also great for when sub instructors (myself included) have to pick up an extra class for the day/week/term

Mary ,

I agree. I view the lesson plan as a "living and breathing" document, that can be customized and changed, based on the dynamic needs of the class. However, it is important to keep the students updated, when changes are made to the lesson plan or syllabus.

It's also a good idea to have the LP on hand to make notes when a change is needed; i.e. to change the amount of time allotted for an assignment, or even skip over an element of the lesson for now, or to add information to part of the lesson, all of these depending on feedback from the class.
