Integrating Technology

I use power point for all lectures, I also direct my students to some of the different web site available if they are relevent to the lesson

Power point is not possible to use for all classes. But I do give my students several webistes to use for class resources.

David,

Excellent point. In order to maximize student engagement, I feel that PowerPoint must be supplemented with and effective, class discussion. Simply using the PowerPoint for lecture and not embedding well-placed, discussion questions can negatively effect student participation and overall, retention of information.

PowerPoint definitely has its place in the learning environment. However, it's not always effective depending on the type of course (sometimes students don't pay sufficient attention during the presentation, especially if they'll have access to the files afterwards).
It does supplement other technologies such as the internet and course software.

Giving student links for web sites where they could find videos and demos that could be helpful for their learning, it's a good way to integrate technology.

I use powerpoints as well and it has worked wonders, especially to the students that are visual learners.
