SUPPORT MATERIAL
USESING SUPPORT MATERIAL IN THE CLASS ROOM HELP KEEP THE STUDENTS ENGAGE.
I agree that students are more engaged in the lesson when support material is available.Having support material reduces the monotony in the classroom.
It also can help with extra time needed to make sure that the students are getting the correct information and actually learning from the information.
At first I thought the use of cellphones in the classroom is bad. But after seeing the result of applications it becomes a good resource material. If I feel I need to see additional informations like vascular problems then I challenged my students to open their cellphones and search for what is available in the internet. It helps. Although it is against school rules, it is in my own personal direction to allow them to open applications. Other support materials I used are unique cases I encountered on newspapers, advanced magazines etc. Powerpoint presentations which I assigned to students in making their research allows them to talk in front, use their skills in technology and can even predict potential teachers. Outside sources helps.
I often introduce articles, my own drawn out illustrations, pictures, and actual working demonstrations/physical instrumentation to clarify what in my experience are areas which typical class students have a difficult time in understanding that words from a book are impossible to convey.
Support material is a good way for engaging student in the class participation. It keeps the class going and developing interest for learning. Remember not all students have same level of learning attitude. When the instructor brings in the support material into his lesson plans the class becomes more productive and gives the opportunity for those student who need other means of learning tool to understand the class content.
