Utube videos

I use Utube videos to emphasize course content in the criminal justice field and the emergency response field. There is an endless and up to date amount of videos that help to explain and visualize what really occurs in the real world.

Embedding them into the PP really saves time, I agree! And I think presents more professional and prepared. I also like to mention that while there are many youtube demonstrations to choose from, not all are correct. That is where I can help. I can screen for/select the more appropriate videos based on known proper procedure. If I do choose to use a youtube video that has some flaws in it, I briefly address the flaws with the class. Usually, I ask them if they noticed anything concerning about the person's technique on the video and then briefly discuss with them.

I use you tube and other videos as one of my instructional delivery methods. I find that the students like it as a change up to lecture or live demonstrations. As for the question “Well if everything is on you tube why do I need you?” I have always told students that my job is to make myself useless. I want students to be self-teaching lifelong learners .I want students to be able to research a procedure or skill and teach themselves how to perform it. That is the ultimate goal of any instructor. And all students are capable of doing these things they just need someone to show them the way.

My students seem to already be YouTube addicts, spending their lunch time watching. Turning them on to the educational possibilities is beneficial, as they will then spend at least a little time on those instead of the silly time-suck JackAss-type stuff. As for the videos which I use in my presentations, I prefer to download them and embed them in the ppt to save time and distractions in the classroom.

Our college does not let us use U-tube video's in any classroom. There are alot of them out there that I think would be beneficial!

I am a user of you tube to assist in demonstrations in the kitchen. There is an endless amount of videos out there to assist me in butchering, preparation of sauces, plating, it is great. i am very glad to have you tube as a source.

I also find Youtube videos to be very useful. I teach dental assisting and am able to pull up examples of procedures that we are discussing. The only draw back I have found is when the videos freeze up or will not down load properly.

I have used YouTube videos, as well. The complaint that has come up is "Why do I need you? I can learn everything on YouTube!" So, I had to make sure that I had my own lessons and projects for my classes and used the videos as a supplement only.
