Learning before critical thinking

As one-way as lecture instruction is, it often is better than reading. Doesn't someone need to gain knowledge before analizing it or critically thinking about it? Lecture can streamline this process. Can't it?

I definitely agree with you. I teach critical care thinking to my students at the bedside in their clinical rotations. This not only crucial, however, students must live their medical lives in the critical thinking mode.

Hi Homer,
I concur! A student needs a knowledge base in order to intelligently/rationally analyze anything or think about anything in a critical manner.
