I really like the quote that says “Just because they're active doesn't mean they are learning.†At the same time, another important key point is “ It’s not because you are active that you are productiveâ€.
Yes; during small group activities, I once had a student fall asleep!
It is so essential to constantly monitor the progress of each group and student, lest they become bored and sleepy!

I like that quote. I have printed it off at my desk as a reminder. This has been a great learning session for me and I am excited to implement a few strategies in my classes.
Now I can see the importance of active learning and know more ways to keep the students engaged during class. I ask questions about the material I just covered during class to tried to keep the students engaged or ask them to explain what we just covered. I think this help retain the information better.

The quote certainly makes a lot of sense. I have some students that are very lost when they are doing hands-on activities. Active learning still is a teaching method that has to be monitored to ensure students are understanding.
