Guided Lecture

I feel that getting the students to close their laptops and not take notes would be met with some resistance ( they're use to looking at their laptops during class-even if they are not taking notes!) I don't want to lose rapport with them form the start. Is there a way to do a guided lecture using the laptops from the start?

Hi Lisa,
Wow, what a great opportunity! I have always loved guided notes. They seem to be extremely helpful!

At our school, we were lucky enough (10 years ago) to be able to spend a weekend-long seminar presented by an education expect, Dr. Mayo. He told us about guided lectures and we were able to by the end of the weekend, in small groups, create daily lectures with fill-in-the-blank notes. At first I thought it was kind of a spoon-fed way for students to learn, but they were at least more able to pass the quizzes. The practical quizzes were another story. We called them "Mayo Notes".

Hi Frantz,
You have it! Most students really do appreciate guided notes.

Thanks! That's a great idea since the notes are already taken for them they can concentrate on the first part of the lecture.

Hi Frantz,
You can create guided notes and email them to all of your students so that they can save them to their lap tap.
