Active Learning
I teach at a technical school so when I'm going threw my lectures I like to show my students real life examples with my lab task to relate back to my lectures. My question is I still get students that don't seem interested and stay disconnected to the rest of the class. How do I egage those students better so they participate in my class?
Hi Timothy,
You are on point! Of course, the students need the lecture first, followed by a hands-on activity. It is important for students to be able to apply what they have learned.

I also teach at a technical school and I try to include as many hands on exercises as possible. I find the best method for me and the students is a burst of lecture, followed by a quick hands on experiment.
Hi Jarred,
If your student have to take exam for licensing
then you may want to incorporate case studies of information relevant to the exam that will peak their interest and highlight information that you feel will be pertinent material that will help them as they take their exams.
Another way is to try to establish a rapport those students so that they will become engaged and be more apt to participate in your class.

Hi Jarred,
You may want to try implementing a participation grade to encourage participation.
