Implementing Active Learning
I found some of the suggestions for implementing active learning for helpful. Some I already do but I think will start adding group activities/projects to my classes. I think it will help the students learn when they are working together and bouncing ideas off of one another.
Motivating students to become more active with their environment and peers is one of the important factor in teaching. Interactions will allow students to process information from abstract to concrete. Those experiences can reinforce and structure new information for the learners, opening them to other ideas or examples.
A great activity that I have found that the students love and that can be very helpful to them is playing Jeopardy with the class material. It helps to get the students involved and a little competition in knowledge helps them to recognize the material better the next time they see it.
I am also adding more active learning activities into my class. Students get very excited when they can get up, get moving and get a chance to physical perform takes that they will be doing for their future career
