Online Teaching
All of this information seems to be directed only at on groudn instruction. What are some of the differences one would see if they were teaching in an online environment only?
Hi Anthony,
Good suggestions. I am sure this will help other instructors that are teaching online courses.

Hi Bobby,
The key difference is that you would not be having face to face sessions with your students, but many of the same principles of good instruction still apply. I have found that even teaching an online course I can develop rapport with students and develop a professional relationship. Look for ways of reaching out to your online students and get to know them better. Have clear expectations within your course work and then follow up with online contact to see if they understand the expectations. Sometimes what appears to be clear is not understood and with an onsite class questions could be answered at the same time the syllabus is handed out. With online class students may interrupt things differently so you have to make sure everything is clear and students understand expectations.

Online environments rely heavily on self motivation from the students. If you are teaching in an online class you have to make sure that the content being delivered is gripping enough to keep the students there. It is up to the students to show up to class and all you can do as an online instructor to try to get them there is by sending an email or calling them.
