Seems like...

When the course content is being presented it seems like I always get 1 or 2 "chatter-boxes" who want to blup out their ideas while i'm lecturing. How do I handle that; they are adult learners, and they should have some respect...right?

Hi Charles,
One of the ways I control such students is that I give my students 3x5 cards and have them write down their questions so we can discuss them when I have completed my lecture. I tell the class that we will discuss and answer the questions at the end of the lecture. This sets the ground rules. If a student blurts out a question or starts talking I pause and remind them that they have to put the question on the card.
I prefer to deal with questions as they come up during the lecture but I won't let one or two students disrupt the class with their own agenda. The cards stop this and we get the material covered. Once I see the class getting settled down and into a working learning community I drop the card method in favor of the verbal question format. Some classes never get there so I use the card method throughout the course.
Hope this method will be of help to you.
Gary
