Developing as an instructor
I believe that all instructors should use and interactive method of teaching so that the they can learn from the students as well
I agree that instructors should use multiple methods of teaching such as group discussion, real-life experiences, etc.
I believe it is important to require group activities as this is a skill students need to have in a work environment. Even the self-motiviated students who would (and could) do it alone need to learn how to collaborate with others.
When I incorporate student learning groups in class it proves to be successful in increasing students learning motivation. However, I have also observed self motivated students whom favor working on their own when presented with group assignments. Is is productive to require group activity?
Hi Benjamin,
Yes, using student learning groups is a very powerful learning tool. The interaction and sharing that these students do when working together on a common case study or problem helps them with both learning and social skill development.

I agree that it is important to learn from your students. I also believe a good amount of group work is effective, and will allow them to learn from each other. Some students learn better from each other.
