and in order to make sure that students under stand the subject the instructor ask uestions and see how many students were able to answerecorrectly also you may ask one students to sumerise what was saidin the last few minutes.

I really like the idea of using pretests. I wasn't able to get one started for my current term, but once I get through this one, I'll have a good idea of what I expect to students to know when they walk into my class for the first time. Also, I want to assess any weaknesses in the courses they have taken prior to mine.

I use pretests in my courses as well. I like knowing what they know so I can build from there. Sounds like this is the model that is working for you as well.

Sometimes I will give my students a pre-test before I start a lecture. I then use this to help guide the class in the direction where it needs to be going. Then after the lecture I will perform an open Q&A and mabe a short answer quiz
to see how well the subject made it through to the class.

This approach not only helps the students understand what has just been covered it also helps you to see whether your students got the information or not. Their summaries show you what they have learned and what you need to reinforce.
