develop style

learn and develop a standard style that will be best for you students.

Chris,
People of like learning preferences often enter fields that appeal to their learning style. Your analysis is right on and as a result you are able to reach your students through your sharing of information and frequent opportunities to learning through hands on instruction.

I start by looking at how I learn. I have found that most of my students learn like I do, that is why they are in a class learning what I have learned over the years. Of course you have to cover all learning types but I teach a very hands on class and subject, I was able to learn it because I was good at learning hands on and so are most of my students.

James,
This is an important part of setting the stage for a successful class. The more students can connection with their instructor and respect that person for what they know the more engaged they are going to be in the course.

One effective way of developing a teaching style that meets the needs of the students is to get to know your students. Ask them about their previous experiences with certain topics and try to get an idea of their understanding of the material.

Once you know a little bit about the student's thought process you can begin to formulate a way of effectively communicating the ideas to them.

Shah,
What are some ways an instructor can do this?
