gaining the confidence of my students

i seem to be doing a decent job but i really want to gain the confidence of students that present more challenges.

Zack,
By performing the tasks in the demon you are right about showing the students that you are skilled at such work and that your years of experience reflect on your ability to not only do the tasks but also explain how the tasks are done. This establishes you as a learning leader and build the confidence your students have in your professionalism and content sharing.

I find that providing demo's for the students and showing them that I can do what I am asking them to do often gains their confidence. Having the knowledge and understanding of the course is key in instilling confidence into the students as well.

Monte,
Look for ways to engage such students in projects such as case studies, role playing or some other activity that lets them "show" what they know. This little bit of extra attention is often enough to expand their respect for you and build rapport with them.
