How do you learn the course you never taught before?
I am faced with this topic for the upcoming semester. As a sales and marketing professional, I am excited to learn about the topic at hand for the new semester, Labor Relations. I am searching for new ideas to help make this class exciting and interesting for the class.
Bill,
There are some good resources through the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE) at www.actonline.org. They also have a couple of books with templates for laying out lesson plans where you can plug your content in and will have a sequential format for teaching your new tech class.

Are there any lesson plan websites that may have course templates for situations like this? Seems like it'd be a great starting point. I am about to teach a tech class very different than the tech classes I have been teaching.
Marcellina,
Good strategy to become current in your field. You are going to be back at the top of your game in short order while enjoying all the new information you get to share with your students. Welcome back!

I am just now teaching again after a 10 year break. While I am familiar with the material, the more technical information has been a challenge for me. I am spending a lot of time refreshing. I have found that reviewing subjects on video sites helps me to review and explain the material in simple terminology.
Angela,
All good ideas for professional improvement. The more resources we can identify and use the better.

I do alot of online research and also get ideas from my colleagues who have taught the subject prior. Try sitting in their class and then put on own spin own the presentation.
William,
I like your level of excitement about preparing to teach a new course. It is fun to learn new content and then shape it into a deliverable format. I wish you much success with this new course.
