model in classroom

As an instructor, I feel as if the students perceive me as a model when I am in the classroom. They will always make comments like "You are here on time unlike the others" or "I like the way you explained this by giving us practical/real-life examples". It is very gratifying but at the same time it is a challenge for me to live up their expectations all the time.

Kathy,
What a great way to reinforce the modeling aspect of helping your students to become professionals as they progress through their program.

So true, so important.

Catherine,
Great way to express this extremely valuable part of being a teacher. Model, model, model.

Yes, I find that students notice when I'm not being a good model in the classroom. They will point it out to me which I in turn give them credit for because it means that they are being alert and attentive to what's going on in the class.

I agree with this statement. Students are always watching to see if we practice what we preach.

Thanks

Or you learn the students are paying attention when you "forget" to model

Eirzaad,
You are a model and learning leader for your students and I congratulate you for that. It is a role we assume when we become instructors. As a result we need to remember we are always being observed and so we need to dress, conduct and speak as models.
