Supplemental Material

I find the best place for supplemental material is the internet. I like that I can pull it up anytime throughout class, and if I find that a concept is difficult for some students to understand, I can find other ways to present it by scanning web pages for alternative definitions or ideas on the concept. For my subject (English) there are also many sites with free worksheets and games that we can do together in class. It helps me identify weaknesses better.

The internet can be a great resource for information Just realize that just because the information is online does not mean the information is correct. I use the internet for information but always try to ensure that any information I give my students is correct and current. I refrain from showing my students specific websites during class due to possible copyright infringment.

Be careful about internet resourcing, the copywrite laws should always be understood before using material from the net.

The increasing sensitivity with copyright infringement does not allow us to print or show any material off the internet unless we get written permission from the author or publicist. This does not stop the instructor, though, from expanding his/her own knowledge base by interpreting how best to use the information. Sometimes, a little research may be needed to determine if that information is true in itself.

I have used pictures from my past experiences to help with teaching. Such as showing types of equipment used in my field.

You are right, the internet is a great place to find information. But, in our institution we are not allowed to use any materials unless they are approved, which makes use of the internet solely for our interpretation of materials. I wish we could use the internet with less restriction. I hope there are not spelling errors in my response. Have a great day.
