As with anything in life, having a plan is critical to success. Preparation also helps individuals plan the potential pace of the course.
I agree with you just like in life we need to plan and get preper for it.

Structure is most importance of the class. The outline of the course gives direction on where you want to be with the students. Plus if you ever get lost or come back from a day off you know exactly where you should be.

so true, planing is the most important thing we do. we must plan somewhat different for every class as all students deserve our best! what worked for the last group may not be received by the next one at all. having a Syllabus and being ready and able to make changes is a must

I agree with the instruction that sometimes with experience we get complacent in this area. Being thoughtful and getting feedback from others who may be more objective or more experienced I think is also part of the plan.
