On top of the Game!
To stay on top, an instructor must be prepared for the unexpected as well as the unexpected. One must adapt to changing environments. Different student behavior & attitudes should have as little impact on the progress of your course plan if your on top of your Game!
That can definitely be a challenge sometimes. I like to have structure and plan ahead. Mild adaptability is easy but major changes in direction can get tricky.

What a great story. Thanks for sharing it. This is a good example of why preparation is so important. You never know when you will be called to step to the plate just as you were. I'm sure your students really benefit from your professional effort. Keep up the good work.

You are right! Its always good to be one(or two) step ahead of the game. I have discovered that keeping a planned class or topic up your sleeve is always good practice. I was called in to give a lecture for a teacher that was sick, the thing was that I was at surgical site teaching the students there. It was a last minute lecture that went great!
