learning enviroment
create a good learning enviroment so that the students can focus.
Michelle,
I think it will. I seat my students in a large horseshoe shape so there is only a front row and everyone had eye contact with each other. This is a great set up for discussions.

We have placed our seating as a akin to an amphitheater to improve visualization for both the instructor and the student. We hope for the next term that the break in arrangement will enhance student attention and focus.
Hi Debra,
You are so right. Being too warm or cold, sitting in chairs that are uncomfortable and staring a wall that has paint peeling is not a positive learning environment for anyone.
Gary
As I sit here absolutely freezing while completing this module, I can relate to the environment and it's ability to affect learning. All I want to do is get warm and like students in an improper environment, find myself not concentrating the way I should. I agree 100% with your comment.
I agree. It is a good idea to know how to contact someone in facilities management so that any problems can be resolved quickly and efficiently.
Hi Virginia,
Great job of integrating the different students you have in your classes. This way you are reaching all of them no matter their backgrounds. This helps them to get settled into the course and feel confident they can be successful even if they have limited knowledge and experience.
Gary
I understand you situation. I, too teach in the medical field and often have students with no medical background mixed with those with some knowledge. I try to come up with ways to have the experienced students participate in sharing their experiences and help the others. I find that they enjoy doing this, and it offeres a sense of reality to the classroom--and not just me talking.

Classroom temperature is important factor in helping students to pay attention to lectures better. I found that is the classroom temperature is either too cold or too hot or too cozy students tend not to pay too much attention to the teacher's lecture.
Also, a clean and a neat classroom , and good fresh air with a small window open may enhance the learning environment.
It is important to understand the needs of our students and what their learning styles are. It is also important to ensure that the physical setting of the classroom is conducive to learning. Temperature, chairs, and even the room colors can have an effect on the students ability to focus.
Hello, intructional styles discussed in this module is very informative. I'm a new instructor, teaching in the medical field. We have students that have absolutely no medical background and some students with medical knowledged. My question is how do I set the instructional pace or maybe present my course materials effectively to those students with different learning curves.
