syllabus vs. course maps
At our school we have course maps instead of syllabus. The problem with this is that course maps are nothing but just the name of the projects. It would be nice to have the project name and maybe a description of the project and / or goals.
In my program we have course syllabus, and course maps. This enables the student to understand what is covered each week, and the map dictates how the material is covered.
Hi Jonathon,
Good way to make sure the students get the information they need to understand how the course will be conducted. This reduces confusion and you have complied with the requirements of your college.

Hi Gary,
Our course maps are printed with our packets that get passed out to students. We are not allowed to change anything with the way they are printed, we can make suggestions and it gets reviewed by our curriculum department and then they will either accept or deny the suggestion. So what I do is I go over the course map, and have the students write in the necessary info on the map.
Hi Jonathon,
Is it possible to add information to the course map outlining project requirements? By having such a description it will really reduce student frustration and questioning. They can see in print what they need to do to complete the project.
