In my teaching I try to list things in the course addendum that will help students to be able to utilize their skills to their full potential. I also talk about having confidence in the classroom and assign project for the students to boost confidence.
Boosting confidence is a great idea because when students work together, they learn from eachother and their confidence builds.

I try to have simple, quick 'skill' applications to teach students to use the material just covered and build their confidence . Sometimes groups are utilized,, sometimes individuals must complete the exercise.
