Planning for class

This seems like a very fun part of teaching. Reading this module was very informative and gave me great ideas on how to prepare for classess. This is my first time as an instructor so this will be very helpful as I prepare for my next group of students.

Planning is crucial to any class you teach. On ground you must be prepared and arrive early to possibly set up mock crime scenes for students.. This helps peak their class interest. I you teach online, you should read the material a head of time so that your discussion boards pertain to the coursework in which the students are learning.

Hi Angela,
You can never be over prepared. Good point about knowing in advance what classes you will be teaching and then doing long term planning for teaching them. This is what is going to give you confidence with your content as well as opportunity to do the prep work that is needed.

Planning is the key. It takes time to go through the material for a course especially the first time that one teaches the course. First, read the content. Second, prepare the materials for class: powerpoints, handouts and any resources needed for class. Third, may sure that all the objectives of the course will be met at the course end. Fourth, eval the course at the end, what worked what did not...

Planing for class is something that I do in detail. I try to know before a a semster what I am teaching so that I can change and create lesson plans based on the size of the class and the classs I am teaching.

I've taken six months of education courses that this one module seems to sum up very nicely. I am also a new instructor. Good luck!
