Plan, Plan, Plan...
I always plan ahead of time for class so that I am prepared. I like to know whenever possible what will be my next class in case I want to revise a subject or bring something new into a lecture. It seems I will have more problems with technical equipment then anything else...computers and printers seem to have a mind of their own sometimes.
Hi Clarence,
Good way to change the pace of the course, meet students needs and still keep the course moving forward. This reflects on your ability as a professional educator.

Plan the Work - Work the Plan. A well developed plan allows for unexpected transitions by recognizing a learning opportunity. A,B,C,...Delta B(change in B). The deviation may be an AH HA MOMENT. The instructor might say;"Let's take a look at what just happened" OR "That's an interesting point Tim...How does that change the discussion?" PERHAPS "That isn't what we had planned...What can we learn from this?"
always planned my class one day before, and in my short experience I have had to change from plan "a" to plan "b" or "c", depending on the attitude of the group. is that correct or should always keep the same plan?
A well made plan always includes a plan A,B, or C because not all classess or the same even if you teach the same subject over and over.
I like to plan ahead with anticipation that something could go wrong. That is why I prepare all my materials in advance. This allows me to make necessary changes, if needed.
Hi Tiffany,
Good strategy for all instructors. I don't know about you but in all the years I have been teaching I seldom if ever get to use A because something always seem to occur that forces me to B or C or D very quickly. Some days it seems I am working on plan M or N or O. This is what I like about teaching it is never boring even if I have to keep moving to another plan throughout the day.

I've learned to prepare a plan A, B, C & D, simply because you never know how everything is going to turn out. Also a good rule of thumb is to plan for more lecture, Q & A, classwork and/or extra activities, just in case something goes wrong, or your hour lecture was cut to 30minutes. Moral of the story, "just be prepared"!
