Do you have a site or sites that you refer students to when they have questions about licensing and certifications? If so, what are they?
Do you discuss these in class?
Do you teach towards material that is covered in the exams for these?
Is there anywhere a student can go, on campus, to find information about those required in their chosen field?
Hi Mary,
I refer my students to the office to get details on licensing and certification beyond what I know about in my field. I do discuss the steps to securing a license or certification so they will see the value of what I am teaching in my course. Also, I try to talk them through the steps to reduce their fears but be realistic in what they are going to face as they take their exams. I let them know that these exams are out of the control of the college and myself so it is totally up to them when they walk into the room to take the exam. I do help them review for the exams so they will have a general idea of what they are going to be tested over. Some agencies have practice exams posted on their websites so I make those sites available to my students as well.
