Preparing to Teach
While reading through the Preparing to Teach section, I realized that although I followed most of those steps when originally planning my course, it will be beneficial for me to re-do them from time to time. This will make the material seem more fresh, and I will be on the look-out for better resources to aid with teaching.
Brian,
Each time gets more refined as you gain experience in how to deliver the content and engage the students. Thanks for this good point.

Usually when the first time I have prepared something it is bound heavily to the text, when I revisit something again I usually use more resources than the first time I planned it out.
Joseph,
I agree with your statement as long as "knowledge" includes all the principles discussed in the lesson. A knowledgeable teacher in his subject matter alone, can be a dismall failure at sharing that knowledge with his students. Teaching is not just a science, it is an art.
My point of view is that the students constructional objective is conducted by knowledgeable teachers teaching.
Linh,
This is essential if you are truly going to be offering the latest and most accurate content in your career area. Technology and health care of are two of the fields that seem to change every few minutes so it is important to stay current as well as knowledgeable of the changes that are made in the legal arena to help the students understand what is expected of them.

yes, in preparing to teach a course, I also find it beneficial to update information periodically, especially since there is always new technology in the health care field. Also, laws and certificate requirements change and/or are updated. Students need to be kept abreast on the most up-to-date information in their field by the instructor.
Sherry,
I wish you much teaching success. You are going to have a real impact on your students as a result of the preparation you have completed thus far.

I really enjoyed reading the section on Preparing to Teach. I have been preparing for my first class and realized that I have followed many of the steps without knowing what the steps were before taking this course. I have had the opportunity to have plenty of time to prepare for my first class and I have used that time very wisely. I had the opportunity to prepare my powerpoints and lecture points thus far. I love preparation ahead of time so that me and my students will have the best learning opportunity.
Thanks,

Roxanne,
Yes, it is easy to fall into a routine that does not inspire students and is boring for the instructor to teach. This is not fair to the students.

I completely with this idea. When you teach the same course repeatedly,it's too easy to become complacent. Students might view that as apathy.
I agree. We constantly need to update our strategies to keep things interesting, not only for the students but for us as educators.
I have been teaching for 4 years, and I do try to change things up a bit after teaching the same course several times a year. It keeps me fresh and interested as well as my students!!
Angela,
Human brains crave variety and change of place while still liking routine. So a blend of routine (class opening, etc.) gets them going and then you can introduce different activities to keep the students engaged and focused.

By reading through this it made me realize that I need to change things up every once in a while to make new stratagies.
Nicole,
I like your excitement about trying new things. As you say this keeps you fresh in the material and delivery and as a result your students benefit from your excitement about sharing your content.
