Materials and syllabus
I just started being an instructor, and have very high standards in general. I have found the curriculum and course outlines where I am on a regular basis don't meet my standards, and the students are not challenged one day, and the next two they can't keep up it is so difficult. Any pointers on how to fix this, while not undermining my superiors?
Cliff,
A quick search of community college curriculum development will give you a number of very good examples of syllabi.

I don't have a great deal of time to local other teachers and speak to them about Syllabus development. Are there website that have examples of good syllabi that I can review?
Keri,
Without being able to review the curriculum you are teaching it is tough for me to answer. What I would suggest is to make sure your standards are based upon what is expected in the field. Next develop activities and learning opportunities that will provide the students with ways they can acquire the needed knowledge and meet the standards. Be creative in the selection of these opportunities. The students may not be meeting the standards because the delivery methods previously used were not effective or relative to acquiring the content.
I will be glad to talk further with you about this question. Just let me know.
