ED101

I thought this course was very informative. However it seems at my institution because of the wide range of various age groups that we teach; its hard to teach in a manner that all or most benefit from

Rashanda

I agree Rashanda, the content in ED101 is presented with interactivity that is refreshing. Quizes are given in a wholly unconventational way.

Thank you so much for understanding! I will try to implement more of these techniques and see if it helps! I really appreciate it!

Amanda,
Can you put them into learning groups of 3-4 students to work on a case study or problem? I have found that having diverse student groups work together helps them to learn about each other and start respecting what each can contribute to the discussion. Also, you could use these groups as panels and have each group present a topic with each member sharing for 3 minutes. These mini-lectures in panel form (I have the group set at a table in front of the room) gets the students engaged.
The tough part is that you will not connect with some students. I am always sad when I don't connect but I do know that I have done the best I can as a professional educator to meet their learning needs and provide support.

I am facing this challenge as well. Not only do I have a diverse group of students (backgrounds, age, educational level), but I only have them for one hour a day! I try to use varied instructional methods with my students, but it doesn't seem like I am connecting with all of them. Any suggestions?

Rashanda,
When faced with such learning diversity I would suggest that you offer a wide variety of learning opportunities and activities to your students. This way you will be able to appeal to the different learning preferences throughout out the course and this will help to keep the students engaged.
