planning and preparation
it has been a great practice for me teaching when i plan my teaching and prepare ahead of my teaching so i can present my teaching organize
Nikita,
You ask a good question at the end of your comments. The answer which we all know will is "unprofessional". Coming to class unprepared and without a clear understanding of what is to be accomplished is unfair to the students and will result in student management issues.

I agree. If you plan ahead of time your class will go alot smoother. Plus, you want to leave a good impression on your students. We are role models as well as instructors to students. How would it look if we are never prepared for class or always running late?
Adriel,
Good point and one instructors often overlook. Preparation does help with confidence as well as more enjoyment as an instructor because the students are engaged at a higher level.

As a new instructor I find that when I prepare and plan each class, my confidence and accessibility to students improves and my students will comment that they "learned a lot today."
Ana-Maria,
Having taught such courses you are so right. The procedures have to be learned correctly and the more you can show detail and value related to the procedures the more the students will see the need to be correct each and every time they perform such duties.

My role of teaching is primarily in the lab, where I have to guide the students doing hands on work, so having a detail plan of how to explain and demonstrated the material is very important.
Cody,
Good prep on your part. This way you can respond to any homework questions that might come up from your students.

I also do the homework myself, so that I may find any discrepancies and prepare my students accordingly.
Nicole,
I am with you. I do the same thing in terms of planning so I can approach the classroom knowing I am ready to teach and enjoy sharing the learning process with my students.

I find that class runs a lot smoother if before the first day of class I plan out each day so I have all the relevant materials such as any worksheets, powerpoints, lecture notes, or demonstration materials on hand each day. This saves time and creates a daily list of what I need to bring to class.
I have a motivational opening. I use prior knowledge, self questioning, brainstorming, establishing relationships, organize, and stating lesson objectives.
