Good point. I always have a Plan B or C or D ready to go for the reasons you cite. You never know when you will have to pull a new plan if you are going to keep your students moving forward that class session.

Nothing is worse than having a haphazard class plan, it's like shoving a new skier down a snowy hill and telling them to pay attention and not fall.
I always overplan, have move activities than I feel can be occomplished in the time given. Then prioritize and make sure there is time in the next days plans for overview and can pick up were I left off, or have some activies turn into home work.
You never know when the internet or the equipment is going to fail and I want to be ready with something else that could teach the same items.
I agree, one of the most important skill in the classroom is to be prepared and organized ahead of time. Students will be more attracted and will increase their ability to stay focused in the class.
