Why should I be here? Is this what I want for my future?
Are students asking these questions? These should be answered quickly with a YES! and the WHY they should behind that. If you don't believe in your subject matter, then who will. Your the "expert"
(to the student), so show that you are enthusiastic about it.
Cary,
You raise a good point about us always being observed. Students take notice of how we interact with them and each other. We are models to them and as a result we need to remember to conduct ourselves in a professional manner no matter the setting.

Students do see and notice our actions inside and outside of the classroom every day. We have to be mindful about our behavior in and outside of the classroom. Student will learn better when they realized that you care about the subject matter and yourself is continue to master and refine your skills.
David,
A very good point and one that must be remembered as we prepare and deliver our instruction.

Julia,
Thank you for these comments about instructors/professors that had and still have an impact on your opinion about learning. We need to strive to be such learning leaders for our students and strive to impact their lives and their careers.

dont just believe in what you are teaching, live it. remember our students follow our lead so, if we don't live what we teach we will always have a cold enviroment and it just becomes a strugle for the students to learn.
Presenting a positive front is very important. I know when I was a student, the professors/instructors that stood out (and who I still think about periodically) were the ones who had a passion for their chosen profession. It was in the stories they shared and in their personal experiences that we learned a lot about to expect from our chosen path and profession. It kept me motivated even through challenging times. It's that kind of inspiration that I want to pass on to my students as well.
Carla,
Good comments and I support them because they are essential to and for student success and satisfaction.
