Lesson Plan
Can you tell me the best way to make a proper lesson plan. I'm nervous about this.
Alfonso,
Good organizational method for informing students how the class is going to go and what activities are going to be offered. This helps to keep them with you each phase of the class. Thanks for sharing this model with us.

It's very similar to my lesson plan that I have designed for all the courses that I teach.
There are four columns:
First column: the DAY
Second column: DATE
Third column: CLASS ACTIVITIES (This column is divided into four rows:
First row: Topics for review
Second row: Topics for Lecture-Discussion
Third row: Homework assignment/report/project (could be a reading assignment or questionaire with date of submission, or a research paper)
Fourth row: Scheduled quiz or test (includes topics to be covered in the quiz or test)
Fourth column: COMMENTS (interesting topics brought up by the students during discussion or may serve as a checklist of what topics were not covered in class for lack of time)
Hi Manuel,
I have not yet taken ED-109 for developing lesson plans, but I also include a column that identifies the resources to use for that segment of the lesson. That way the instructor can gather tools easily ahead of class.

Manuel,
I think this is a great model to follow because each column shows you exactly where you are at in the house and what topics you are going to cover. Your note section enables you to write down how the sessions went and what you need to plan for next. This is a very coordinated approach and really keeps the students focused.

I have prepare a table with three columns: In one column I have the topics I am going to discuss in class, the other column I put the activities I have plan for the class (classwork) and the third column is for the homework. Then at the bottom of the table, I have a space for notes. There, after class, I write what was the last discussion (in order to know from where I will start the next class), and put some comments about what I need to improve, if I observed learning problems, what do I need to do to improve that, etc.
Kali,
Great to hear the value you got from ED 109. I wish you continued teaching success.

Lesson planning can be overwhelming especially if this is a first teaching experience and/or the school does not follow a lesson planning template. I appreciate the information at ED109 prepares you well for this in the furture!
Jeanette,
I would suggest you take our course ED 109 Preparing Lesson Plans. This course lays out all of the steps and gives you examples to follow in developing your own lesson plans.
